National Dialup Setup Instructions for Macintosh OS X

Before you start
1. Make sure your modem is connected to the phone line
2. Make sure your system recognizes the modem - Click on Control
Panels Modem from the Apple menu.
3. Locate a number close to you, using our online searchable
dialup number list at http://wdyllc.com/support/DUNS.cgi
Dial-In Setup
1. Open the System Preferences folder. Under the Internet & Network
section choose Network.
2. Click the box next to Location and choose New Location.
3. Where it says Name your connection, type WDYLLC. Click OK.
4. Click the box next to Show. Choose Internal Modem.
5. Click the TCP/IP tab. Click the box next to Configure and choose
Using PPP.
6. Click the PPP tab. Next to Service Provider type WDYLLC. Next to
Account Name type your dialup username (e.g. jsmith@gcfn.org).
Next to password type your GCFN password. Next to Telephone Number
type the number you found from our online searchable dialup number
list.
7. If you want your password to be saved for future login sessions,
click the box next to Save Password.
8. Click the Modem tab. Make sure the box next to Modem has your
internal modem listed. Place a checkmark next to Enable error
correction and compression in modem and also next to Wait for dial
tone before dialing. Next to Dialing, chose the appropriate
dialing type for your phone. Click the box next to Country Setting
and choose United States.
9. At the bottom of the screen, click Apply Now. Close the Network
window.
To Logon
1. Open the Applications menu.
2. Click on Internet Connect. A new window will open. Next to
Configuration choose Internal Modem. You should now see WDYLLC
listed as your Service Provider. Type in your password if you did
not automatically save it and click Connect.
3. Next to Status you should see messages for dialing, verifying
password, then connected.
4. Start using your Internet browser, e-mail, or telnet client.
5. To disconnect, bring up your Internal Modem window and click
Disconnect.
